The next PARK general meeting is tomorrow night Monday, March 18th at 7:00 pm at the First Methodist Church of Plano, 3160 East Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, TX. As usual, VE testing will be conducted before the meeting at 6:00 pm.
Our guest speaker this month will be Stephen Forney W3TEX with a presentation on “Battery Selection for Backup Power”.
The presentation will cover the following areas:
1) Various types of battery chemistries (both Lead Acid and Lithium-Ion technology),
2) Key battery safety precautions,
3) Battery charger requirements and considerations;
4) Controllers for switching over from a DC Power Supply to a Battery Backup supply
5) Using a battery “voltage booster” – when power runs low.
